RYCA Jackets Football!

Via Flickr:
Offense wins games, Defense wins championships, but you can't put a price on Special Teams. Wednesday night's gunslingers were in full force as the RYCA two top football teams battled at Heath High School. The stands knew that both high powered offenses would put the ball in the end zone, and the youth football teams did just that.

After the dust settled, it was the RYCA Rockwall Nebbie Jackets 38 and the RYCA Rockwall Hays Jackets 30 to close out the regular season matchup between these two teams. The difference maker of the game was RYCA Nebbie Jackets kicker, Lake Johnson.

This first year player kicked 4 extra point field goals (in youth football, extra point kicks are worth 2 points) out of five tries. With the 8 points Johnson provided for the 6th grade football team, the Nebbie Jackets are still in the hunt for a first place seeding in the upcoming playoffs.

In addition to Lake Johnson being chosen as the Special Teams Player of the Game, Lake played hard nose defense making several stops against the Hays Jackets. This special teams player continued to help the offense by kicking the ball deep, and making key tackles all night long.

Lake is a first year player, who is quickly making a name for himself and really playing like a veteran.
