Rockwall Youth Football brings out the best in the Community

It’s Saturday in Rockwall County, and football stadiums are filled with screaming fans, loud coaches, and excited players.  Before arriving at the stadium, RYCA Jackets are fed their favorite breakfast; blessed with putting on the best uniforms; and stomachs filled with nerves in hopes to performing their best.

At the end of the game; it doesn’t really matter who won or who lost.  However it does matter how the game was played and the lessons learned.  Such is the game of life!

The citizens of Rockwall and surrounding communities meet at the stadium to watch 5-12 year olds play the game of football.  It is 90 minutes of triumphs and tribulations, but really the RYCA Football Organization represents much more.  It is a time when the community comes together to support our boys in football and girls in cheer.  It is a time to see friends and support their children as well.  The games are a reflection of the hard work the teams have put in the previous week.  It is a time to answer the challenge that lines up across the field.  Some teams excel and others fail to reach their goals.  Some fans are model citizens and some have to evaluate how they reacted to adversity.  The volunteer coaches who spend hours of time teaching the youngsters are tested with patience and resolve orchestrating perfect execution of plays and put under the microscope monitoring every reaction.

Week 2 or the RYCA Jacket Football Season was a success with winners and losers on the field.  However, for the City of Rockwall and Rockwall Jacket Football; it was all wins in the score column of life.  Never before has Rockwall seen this large of an organization coming together with one goal.  The goal of teaching football, challenging kids to perform at a high level, and celebrating meeting challenges that were overcome.

Rockwall has the best fans in the country, and some of the strongest support in youth football today.  The RYCA Jacket Football program has built the largest football organization in Rockwall County.  It is the largest grade and school pure organization in North Texas, and the only organization in Rockwall that is vertically aligned football program with the Rockwall High School Varsity Football program according to Head Coach Rodney Webb.  “All good high school football programs in the State of Texas are built at the elementary level and my goal is to bring this type of football to Rockwall” states Coach Webb.

The Rockwall Youth Community Athletics (RYCA) Jackets are proud to be a part of the Rockwall County Community as a premier youth sports program. The RYCA has a strong commitment to principles and strives to be a community-driven organization with the genuine participation of athletes, volunteers, parents, family members, teachers, school administrators and local businesses. We encourage the RYCA Family to attend community and district events and to always support our community and display our Jacket Pride.

The RYCA will make every effort to make sure that every child with the desire to participate gets the opportunity to play or cheer, without financial costs, prior experience, athletic ability or size. We are devoted to inspiriting our young athletes (kindergarten through 6th grade) and will give them the challenge of competition, the joy of victory, the reality of defeat, the importance of commitment and spirit in the community. We believe these values and virtues are important to athletes’ growth and to them becoming active members of our community and society. The RYCA Jackets is on a mission to give back to the community, to be the community’s youth sports program, to rally Stingers’ Up!

Week 3 will see the RYCA Jackets play Wednesday night at Wisdom Field and Saturday at Rockwall and Heath High School.

Get your Stingers Up and join the New Community Tradition!
